CAITHNESS ARTS DIRECTORY

Caithness Arts are currently preparing the second edition of the Caithness Arts Directory.  The Directory is a comprehensive list of artistes both professional and amateur, venues, arts organisations, tutors, agencies, funders, retail outlets etc. who contribute to the arts in Caithness.

VIEWFIRTH REDEVELOPMENT STEERING GROUP

Following a public meeting held by the UKAEA in December 2006, the Viewfirth Redevelopment Steering Group was formed to work with the community to develop ideas for the Viewfirth site in Thurso. 

A formal constitution was agreed and seven organisations from Caithness are now pursuing the interests of the community to create a feasable proposal to the Dounreay Stakeholder Group for the development of the Viewfirth site.

The members of the Group are :

CAITHNESS ARTS SEMINAR

On the 7th December 2006, Caithness Arts and Hi-Arts hosted a one day Seminar at the All Star Factory in Thurso.  The aim of the Seminar was to explore the value of the Arts to Caithness in cultural, economic and social terms.  The day was Chaired by Ian Brown and the speakers were :

Jim Tough, Head of Arts, Scottish Arts Council

CAITHNESS ARTS FORUM

As a direct result of the Caithness Arts Seminar, the Caithness Arts Forum has been formed to provide an opportunity for voluntary, community and agency sector people locally to come together to discuss arts development in the County thereby ensuring that the arts sector becomes more clearly established in community planning processes in Caithness.
